Laura Downey
Laura Downey works in the litigation department, specialising in dispute resolution, in large part High Court litigation, and administrative law. This combines her practice of rights based law with multi-party litigation. She has worked extensively at the Commission to Inquire into Child Abuse, as well as advising clients in respect of other statutory schemes and inquiries . Laura also practices childcare law, advising a statutory body on all aspects of its statutory functions and representing it in judicial review actions in the High Court.
Laura has a particular expertise in property defect cases and is involved in a wide range of construction defect matters, including damage to property caused by the use of the mineral
pyrite in the infill of housing developments.
Laura Downey was educated at University College Dublin where she obtained a Bachelor of Business and Legal Studies and a Masters Degree in Commercial Law. She joined Lavelle Coleman in 2002 as a trainee and was admitted to practice as a solicitor in 2005.
