Ciaran Leavy is a Senior Associate Solicitor in the Commercial Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department at Lavelle Coleman.
 
Ciaran advises on dispute resolution in the areas of:

Ciaran has experience mediating, litigating and arbitrating disputes.

Prior to joining Lavelle Coleman Ciaran spent two years working as a lawyer with the United Nations Compensation Commission in Geneva, Switzerland where he specialised in corporate claims.

Representative Cases
  • Acting for a large group of investors in Custom House Capital.
  • Acted for Property Developer in a high profile Commercial Court case against ACC Bank Plc. The High Court awarded the Developer €4.76 million in damages for losses suffered as a result of ACC losing the title deeds to certain properties. This landmark decision has created new case law in respect of a mortgagee's duty of care to a mortgagor
  • Acted for the United States Trustee in Bankruptcy in the bankruptcy of David K. Drumm and successfully obtained an order in aid in the High Court allowing the U.S. bankruptcy be recognised in Ireland
  • Acted for liquidator in high profile fraudulent and reckless trading High Court case against company directors
  • Acted for investors in dispute with Financial Institution before the Financial Services Ombudsman arising from mis-selling of Geared Property Funds
  • Acting for high net worth investors in High Court action against a major stockbroking firm
  • Acting for investor in professional negligence dispute against a Financial Advisor arising from the acquisition of a Tracker Bond
  • Acting for a Property Developer in a professional negligence dispute against an Architect
  • Acting for individuals in professional negligence disputes arising from conveyancing transactions
  • Acting for Property Developers in Specific Performance of Contract for Sale actions

Ciaran graduated from University College Cork with a Bachelor of Civil Law Degree (BCL) and from the University of Limerick with a Master of Laws in European Law (LLM). Ciaran also holds a Diploma in Employment Law and a Professional Certificate in Compliance from the Institute of Bankers.
